Short-Term Running Goals:

It's been a challenging year so far since Boston 2011.  When I got home from Boston my world changed when I found out I had some pretty severe food allergies. Since being tested I have been focused on building my health back up which has been a long slow process. What a difference it's made and I feel extremely blessed. For years I knew something was wrong and it's amazing to finally know that food can actually be a persons medicine to live a healthy life. 

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'm hoping to start building more miles when I can and be injury free.  Maybe one of these days I'll be fast. Just for now I'm just very happy to be running.

Personal:

Happily married to Marlin Ordway. We've got 4 grown children between the two of us.  It's been fun watching them go through life - making mistakes and picking themselves back up.  I love seeming them happy and succeeding.

I didn't have to work early this morning so I was able to go to the gym.  Have to admit it was nice to be able to sleep in and then go in.  I had thought about running outside; however, it started to rain more so I just went ahead and went to the gym  It was great to see Alana and Felicia there. Wish I go in every day like that.  After work I went back to the gym and did the Arc Trainer for 30 min's - stretched and a few weights.  I was glad to get two workouts in today.  Ran 8 miles this morning.

I ran intervals this morning.  I don't have the data with me to add right now, so hopefully I'll get it added later.  I was happy with my HR, but it made it hard to get it up there durning my intervals.  I know my intervals averaged 7:19 to 7:41 pace.

Ran this morning.  7.5 miles.  It was great that my HR stayed down.  Ran between 8:27 and 8:41 pace on the TM.  I've been going to the gym lately because I like that I stretch there and get things like situps in - even on days when I'm alittle short on time. 

After work - went back to the gym.  I had thought about running 3 miles, but I was alittle tired.  I'm sure it was from moving to a new account at work and going through training.  I still have 2 1/2 weeks of training.   I did the Arc Trainer for 1 hour and then went over with Marlin to stretch.

Ran up at Island Park.  As soon as I got down the lane and onto the  road I started off towards Buttermilk.  Pretty soon after I start I hear a whistle.  Marlin was alittle ways behind me just finishing up his first loop.   At first I thought....dang.  But, it ended up being nice to have him to run with.  I had been having a tough morning and had actually thought about taking the day off.  I was not motivated.  So, it ended up being a nice run.  Part of the loop we took was a dirt road and I knew my footing was off.  I know my time was about 30 seconds slower.  It was not the best run I've had.  So, I was glad to get the 10 done.  The rest of the day was taking my mom huckleberry picking which was fun and then nap time!   It was fun relaxing up the cabin the rest of day.

We came home from the cabin early this morning to make it to church.  After church I went and ran Sunnyside hill.  I had never run it before and really wanted to see what it was all about.  I was happy to run 3 miles up before turning around.  I had only planned on a 5 mile run for the day. But, was happy to do 7 for the day.  Stopped at Sams Club for a few things and then home to eat dinner with my parents.  Marlin had gone out running.  My sister and her 2 girls came over for dinner also.  Great weekend.

Early morning run.  Nice cool weather. Just had time for 6 miles.   

Ran after work today.  It was pretty warm, but managed to run 7.25 miles.  My legs were alittle tired from this morning.

Intervals at the gym before work.  Total of 7 miles.  I decided not to run after work.

Ran 5x1200 w/400 recovery. 1 mile warmup. 7:35 (153) - 7:30 (158) - 7:19 (165) - 7:08 (169) - 7:03 (172). Finished with 2 mile cooldown between Zone 1 & 2.

I had a good run in the morning.  I like that it's so cool and quite.  Ran 7 miles before work at a pretty easy pace.  It's been nice running around the river super early.  Hurried home and got ready for work.

After work I went back down to the river and ran 5 miles.  It was pretty warm, but was glad to do another 5 for the day.  With the training class I've been in the last week it's been nice to run since some days have been long and stressful.

I didn't run this morning because I wanted to not be tired for running this afternoon.  I wanted to do my Thurs. tempo run.  I did get alittle bit of stretching in before work.  After work I went straight to the gym.  Marlin was already there. He had already finished his run.  My sister showed up right after I got there.  She's wanting to do the Century Ride on Aug. 20th.  So, she was there to ride the bike.  I started with a 1 mile warm up and then started to bump up the speed.  I kept the pace at 8:13 for quite a few miles and my HR didn't go up to high.  It was in the upper end of Zone 1.  As I increased my speed to 7:47  my sister Kelly and Marlin came over to talk. It was alright for awhile, however, I was trying to focus on running. After they left I increased my speed to 7:41.  By the end of my tempo I was at 7:35.  Boy, did that make me happy.   Maybe some day I'll be able to maintain that pace for longer.  I cooled down for a couple of miles and ended with 10.75 miles.  After running I made sure to do a few arm weights and stretched really well.     Other than my workout today work had an amazing BBQ.  They grilled steaks!  They were huge!   I ended up eating just part of mine and bring the rest of it home.  In 11 yrs I haven't seen them put on quite a good of BBQ.   Tomorrow I'm going to do an easy run in the morning.

I was almost tired today running.  The further I went the better it got.  I was just glad it was friday.  No run this afternoon.   Met up with Marlin after work and went to Teton Running Store.  Then dinner at Stockman's.  I really look forward to going to eat on Fridays.  One thing I've noticed running in the mornings is there are 3 older ladies walking the Greenbelt also.  When I was talking to Marlin he said they waive and say hello to him each morning, but when I see them they don't waive and barely acknowledge me when I run by.  Marlin thinks it's because he's running without a shirt.  Maybe I'll run a lap with him and we'll see what they do.  Drives me nuts when someone's not friendly.

Long run today down by the river.  Overall, I am happy with how it went. I was glad I was able to do it since last weekend it didn't happen.  I was glad I maintained around 8:50 overall.  So far I plan on taking tomorrow off.

Early morning run this morning.  I was glad I got out earlier than usual.  Ran 7 miles and then went back home to get ready for work.  I was glad I decided to run after work - 5.25 miles.  It was alittle windy which was kind of a pain.

I ran 1 mile intervals today before work.  I did the first one at 7:35, another 3 at 7:13 and the last one at 7:30.   Ran a few extra miles to make 10 miles total for the day.

I also considered not running after work today.  Just for a minute was all.  Works been alittle stressful with switching to a different department. I've been in training for almost 3 weeks and today was a written test.  Testing will finish tomorrow.   I went to the gym because it was pretty warm after work.  Ran 7 miles at a tempo pace of 8:06; with another 3 miles at 8:34. Since I didn't run this morning I wanted to get 10 miles in.

I did an early morning run this morning down by the river.  I was pretty tired.  Could only do like a 9 min mile.  It's been hectic at work so I've been pretty tired from the last week.  I was glad to do 7 miles.

I had to work all day which is very unusal   I don't work weekends unless I want to, so it wasn't to fun being there because I had to be.  I'll be glad when things get back to normal.  Since no one was around I decided to go run a few miles just to get out for alittle bit.  Ran over by Snake River Landing.

I have to be honest.  This long run was not fun.  When I started out it was cloudy and alittle windy. I didn't feel like being out there.  I was glad to get in the first hour.  It was tempting to stop because it started raining alittle.  Not many people were out. I had made a couple of potty stops because my stomach kept bothering me.  I was glad I decided to keep trying.  It didn't get any funner, but it did get 'somewhat' easier.  It was just one of those days.  No energy. I'm not sure how I got the 18 miles in, but, I was so glad it was done.  I'm sure I was alittle burnt out from the last few weeks training at work also.  I son't like complaining but it was just frustrating.  Tomorrows a new day!

I decided to get up and run this morning even though I don't have to work today.  It was pretty good - compared to yesterday.  Just ran 5 miles because I was meeting up with my sister for a bike ride before she had to go to work.  Just rode for 20 min's.   Already worked in the yard this morning and now heading out to run errands.

I haven't had to go into work until later in the morning so it's been nice to sleep alittle later - until 6am. Went down by the river to run.  There were alot more people out I noticed. I've been cutting wheat out of my diet and I think I've been noticing a difference. It's been kind of a pain. I felt pretty good durning the run.

I'm liking sleeping in until 6am and then going to the gym.  Did a tempo run at a 8:00 pace.  Thought about going longer, but I decided to do the Arch Trainer.  I was then able to do some weights before having to go to work.  I sure like when I have time to do other things than run.

Well, I found out a lot this weekend.  I've been trying to figure out my runs haven't been very good lately and why I have no drive to run like I used to.  Went to the doc Sat afternoon to see what I could find out.  Seems like my electrolytes are off for one thing and he also referred me to a nutritionist.   He also recommended that I don't run the TOU.  He gave me some suggestions of how to get things back on track.  Just taking one day at a time right now.  When I ran today I just wanted to see how things went.  The first 7 miles were pretty good.  The last couple of miles my time dropped off and I had a harder time maintaining a good pace.  I'll see how things are tomorrow morning when I run.

Early morning run today.  I didn't feel to great when I started out, but as it went on I started to feel better. Debated on going another mile, but, I knew I'd be pushing it and I had to start a new schedule today. I was glad I got out there super early since I had to be at work by 8am.
