Short-Term Running Goals:

It's been a challenging year so far since Boston 2011.  When I got home from Boston my world changed when I found out I had some pretty severe food allergies. Since being tested I have been focused on building my health back up which has been a long slow process. What a difference it's made and I feel extremely blessed. For years I knew something was wrong and it's amazing to finally know that food can actually be a persons medicine to live a healthy life. 

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'm hoping to start building more miles when I can and be injury free.  Maybe one of these days I'll be fast. Just for now I'm just very happy to be running.

Personal:

Happily married to Marlin Ordway. We've got 4 grown children between the two of us.  It's been fun watching them go through life - making mistakes and picking themselves back up.  I love seeming them happy and succeeding.

What a day.  I was suppost to pick up my parents at noon but their plane got delay because they had to put a new window in.  Gotta make sure the pilot can see.  They ended up sitting at the airport most of the day.  Marlin was going fishing so I still left work early because I really didn't want to be there.  To tempting to leave.  I ended up leaving and running errands and went to the gym.  It was nice getting my stuff done early!  Then went to the gym and ran 8 miles.  Didn't think I had much time after that so I went home for a few minutes and then went back into town to pick them up.  They still didn't here until around 6pm.  But, then took them home and helped get them settled.  My sister and her girls come over and we all ate dinner.  I was glad to get home at 7:30pm.

Went to the gym this afternoon after an afternoon of shopping. Met up with my sister and ran 8 miles on the TM.  It was nice running with her.  Lots of fun talking and the 8 miles went by really fast!  Good run.

Went to the gym today after work to run on the TM.  Ended up running 9 miles.  After the first 4 I went to get a drink of water.  When I came back Marlin was talking to another runner there that I had been running next to.  He's an older gentleman and does well. I'd like to ask how old he is becuase I know he's in his 70's.  When I talked to him in the past he talked about running 5-6 miles pretty much every day.  I'm always impressed by him.  Once we were all done talking I ended up running another 5 miles.  I put in an extra mile because I'd stopped.  One of these days I'll start running outside again.  It was to windy today.  I called the Parks & Rec Center down by the river and learned they have lockers you can rent. I want to get one to have someplace to change after work and when I run the river.

What a day on the TM.  I wasn't sure if I'd be able to finish my intervals.  I was just tired. Ran 6x1200 w/400 recovery. 1 mile warmup @ 9:13.  7:53 (145 HR) - 7:43 (168) - 7:40 (170) - 7:19 (174) - 7:35 (180) - 7:53 (175).  Finished with a .50 miles in Zone 2 to cool down. 

 I was not sure if I could do the last set because I was pretty tired. I'd worked an hour late today, but, I'm sure that wasn't it.  And, I ate a banana on m way to the gym and wouldn't think that'd be it either.  It was just one of those days.  I did some leg and arm weights after I'd finished.  Went home and stretched some.

One of these days I'll run outside. Thought it would be today but the wind was blowing and getting worse.  Hard to believe it ended up snowning awhile ago.  Just ran in a Zone 2 today.  Kept pace around 9 min mile. I was alittle tired today after yesterday.  But not as bad as I thought I'd be. Average HR 157.

Ran at the gym this afternoon - tempo run.  Sure wish it hadn't snowed!!!  It took a couple of miles to get my HR up.  Finally had to take it to a 7:53 pace to get into Zone 3.  I was happy about that!  I was glad I was strong enough and had my breathing down to do it.  Just had time today to run 8 miles.  Cooled down and had to leave for the day.

Ran at the gym after work. Left work at 1:30 to avoid overtime so I was able to run and get a few errands done. I plan on working tomorrow so I was glad to get a few things done today. The run was alright. Alittle tired at different times durning the run. But, kept it in Zone 2. I gave up the last mile to stretch and do some core work. I plan on running tomorrow after work and then take Sunday off.

Pretty good run for a long run today.  Ran 12 miles wearing new compression shorts Marlin got me.  Very nice!

Ran after work today. Stopped by Parks & Rec on the way to the gym. I wanted to rent a locker so that I had a place to change when I ran the river this summer.  Ran alittle over 8 miles on the TM.   Afterwords did some stretching before heading home.  I stopped by the river thinking I'd run another mile to get myself outside.  By then it was cooler and I was cold from working out earlier.  So, I made it short. Won't even count it for today.

A fun day doing intervals. Not really tho. The top of my foot has been bothering me! It's alittle buised. Who knows maybe I tied by shoes to tight one day. But, the last couple of days it's gotten worse. I did my best with the intervals.

Ran 6x800 w/400recovery. .5 Incline. 1 1/2 miles warmup @ 9:22. 8:00(173), 7:53 (172), 7:53 (172), 7:47 (170), 7:41 (174), 7:35 (180).

I didn't have a ton of time today to run.  Worked 45 min's late and then needed to be at Texas Roadhouse at 5pm. Today was better with my foot.  Today was Marlin and I's wedding anniversary! We were married the same day as my parents. It is their 60th! So,we all went out to eat along with my sister, her two kids and good friends of my parents. I tired to keep my pace up to get some miles in. Amazing what you can do when you're in a hurry.  Slowly inched up the pace as the run went on.  By the end of the run it was at an 8 min mile.  Yahoo!   Tomorrow Marlin and I are leaving for S. Dakota so I probably won't get a run in.

We're in Spearfish, SD.  I was glad to get 10 miles in today. We went down to a small gym there in town and was able to run since it was alittle cool outside.  Felt pretty good after taking yesterdsay off due to traveling. TM's we're the best, but, overall all right.  Sure do like the lower elevation from home!

Long run in Spearfishh, SD today.  Went back down to the gym and had a pretty good run. My problem with the TM's is I kept hitting the Stop button and I'd lose all my info!  Finally got myself to stop that finally.  Left hip started to really bug me within the first couple of miles. I figured it was due to being on a new TM.  Actually thought I'd have to stop, but after alittle while it went away.  I was glad it get a couple of miles more  than I wanted.   I need to get more long runs in I usually do.  Heading home tomorrow so it'll be another rest day.  With the week the way it's been I'm glad to get the miles I did this week.

Interval run today at the gym.  As much as I dread these I actually enjoyed todays run.


Ran 7x800 w/400 recovery. 1 mile warmup .  7.24 (170 HR) - 8.15 (170) - 7.24  (170) - 7.19 (170) - 7:19 (173) - 7:08 (175) - 7.13 (177).  Finished with a good run and then cool down in Zone 2 .  Ended up running 8.6 miles.

Didn't have a ton of time today.  Went to the gym and ran 8 miles.  HR 152.  Average pace was easy at a 9.26.  Feeling pretty good with my runs lately. Not bad since I turned 50 today!!!!

Tempo run at the gym today.  I was happy with my pace & HR.  Started out at a 9:13 for a little over a mile.  Picked it up throughout the run ending at an 8:06 for the last mile.  I was happy that I maintained a 8:13 for a few miles.  I just started to get tired towards the end.  Average pace was 8:31 with average HR at 159.   I was happy about it all considering I really didn't want to go after work.

TM run this afternoon.  I got out of work and then had to stop at Parks & Rec to rent my sister a locker for the summer.  That way we can both run the river after work and have someplace to change!   During my run today my legs were alittle tired. Not sure if it was because todays Friday or from yesterdays run. Hopefully a long run tomorrow morning.

The intervals got me today. Marlin was doing 4 x 1600 so I thought why not, what the heck. Boy, did the third one get me. The forth I had to stop half way through and get a drink really quick. I was pretty tired. Ended up running quite a bit afterwords. Stretched pretty good afterwards. Tonight I noticed I'm losing a toenail! I'm pretty bummed about that. Hope I can save it.

1 mile warmup @ 9:05. Ran 4 x 1600 w/400 recovery. 7:24 (158 HR) - 7:24 (168) - 7:19 (180) - 7:24 (178). Finished with 5 miles in Zone 2. Ended up running 10 miles. Got pretty tired the last mile or so.

Tried to keep it at a slow easy run today. Legs were tired from yesterday.  Ran in Zone 2.  I couldn't tell if I was just thristy or legs were tired.  Rode the bike for 6 miles afterwords trying to stretch out my legs.  Once that was done I made sure and stretched and did some core work.

Tempo run today. Heck, I was still tired from Tue.  The run was better than I expected so that made me happy.  I warmed up for about 1 1/2 miles and then moved into a tempo run.  Total miles were 8 miles with a small cool down.  Stretched afterwards.  I need to make sure and get to bed earlier.  Maybe that'll help with being tired.

What a day it's been.  At work finishing up end of month quota's.  Left work for awile for a funeral. A women who I considered a second mom had passed away. I went back to work for an hour and then went to the church to see who I could see since I'd not been able to talk to the family before the funeral service.  When I got there I wanted to make sure and see Vicki Bass. It was great to see all the kids.  I was glad to be able to talk to Vicki for a short while.  I hope to see her in Aug when she'll be up in Island Park.  It was absolutely amazing to reconnect with a family whom I'd met at 5 yrs old.  Our families lived out in the country and grew up together.  The history and memories are unreplaceable.

Almost didn't go to the gym afterwards because it was later in the afternoon.  Sure glad I did tho.  Ran 7 easy miles.
