Short-Term Running Goals:

It's been a challenging year so far since Boston 2011.  When I got home from Boston my world changed when I found out I had some pretty severe food allergies. Since being tested I have been focused on building my health back up which has been a long slow process. What a difference it's made and I feel extremely blessed. For years I knew something was wrong and it's amazing to finally know that food can actually be a persons medicine to live a healthy life. 

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'm hoping to start building more miles when I can and be injury free.  Maybe one of these days I'll be fast. Just for now I'm just very happy to be running.

Personal:

Happily married to Marlin Ordway. We've got 4 grown children between the two of us.  It's been fun watching them go through life - making mistakes and picking themselves back up.  I love seeming them happy and succeeding.

Didn't get a run in.  Rode our new bike at home.  It was nice doing something else.

Got to the gym alittle later than expected.  Stopped by my parents and got caught up talking to them.  Ended up having a good run - 8 miles.  Then took the time to do some weights and stretched.

I was so glad to get to the gym early this morning.  It was great to see Jeff, Andrea, Kami & Lynette.  After getting the run done I made sure to take the time and do some weights and stretch.  After working out I stopped to pick up my neice a birthday gift.  We had a birthday party for her this afternoon.  Can't believe she's 10 yrs old!  She is amazing.

Rode our spin bike at home in the AM.   I knew I was just working half a day so thought I'd go to the gym in the afternoon.  I was glad I did that because I had a pretty good run and then weights and stretching.

Today's run was alright overall. Felt alittle less motivated than yesterday.  I was able to fit in a couple of weights before having to get ready for work.  I had to work a full day today so maybe that's why I didn't feel as motivated. Work ended up being alittle hectic.  Ended up having to go into a training class and teach about the Quality Dept.  Then had to help out with this project about customer service.

Sure didn't want to wake up this morning.  After the first min or so it wasn't to bad.  It's always 'tempting' to sleep.  I knew the guilt would get me all day.   Off to the gym.  Glad to see so many people.  Marlin, Curt, Deborah, Andrea, Lynette, and saw Kami as I was headed home.  Missed Jeff. He's probably gone even before I head out my door.  Ran 7.25 miles.  No time for weights or stretching today.  Off to work.  Hope everyone is having a good day!

Almost didn't go to the gym this morning....then guilt set in.   At first I thought I'll do 5 miles.  Don't remember the last time I just ran 5, but made getting up so early not so bad.  Once I got there it was great to see everyone. Marlin had just finished his run so I took over his TM.  Once I got going it wasn't so bad.  Then when I was just past 6 miles Deborah stopped by to say hello before she left.  I asked her how many she had done...a question I should not have asked.  She ran 8.  And, since I had heard a couple of other people's mileage I thought um, better not slack then.  Finished with 8 miles and a quarter mile cooldown.  Finished with alittle bit of stretching and back home to get ready for work.

Well, the day didn't start out the best.  Slept in just alittle bit, but got up and ready to go pretty quick.   When I went out to leave.....a dead battery in the car!  Good thing for Marlin coming back home to get it going for me.  I was glad I didn't have to do it myself.   Once I got to the gym did a normal run at a 8:20 - 8:34 pace.   After a couple of weights and stretching I was ready to go.  Then, I saw Deborah (again).  She had come back to do the yoga class.  I was glad she talked me into doing it.  My hips have been hurting for quite awhile (weeks....).  I could tell a difference after the class.  I think I'll go to the 7am class tomorrow again.  Spent the rest of the day shopping.  Good day!

I ended up just doing yoga and the elliptical today.  Didn't feel like running.

I wasn't sure if I'd go to the gym this morning because I woke up not feeling the best.  I decided to go and see how it went.  It was pretty good and just tried to take it easy.   It was another day off so I spent it running a couple of errands and then watched my two niece's.  They got to finish with frosting cookies we'd made yesterday.  They were home because their little Shitzu died yesterday and they were still having a super hard time.  I sure hope they can bouce back and start feeling better. 

I'm pretty excited because our local news is going to do their little segment of  'Our American Hero' on my nephew this Friday.  He's currently serving in Afghanistan.

Went to the gym this morning. Felt just so so.  I can tell I don't feel super good.   I was glad I could do the 8 miles.   After the gym, went to work. First day back after a four day weekend.  Good thing was that after work I got to go see my hairdresser.  She's so great.  Then I got to finish out the day helping my sister move a couple of loads of stuff from her moving out of her house.  You never know how much stuff you have until you go to move.  Even with it being frustrating at times I'm very glad I was able to be there for her and to help.  It's been one of those things I didn't necessarly want to do, but I know it was the right thing to do. Overall, it was a good day.

Had a good run in the AM.  Just the typical run and then off to work. 

It was alot of fun doing the group run in the evening with everyone.  Ran around some good neighborhoods looking at Christmas lights.  I enjoyed meeting a couple of new people.  With the different paces of runners have to give a 'big thanks' for the fast runners for slowing it down for everyone.   It was kinda nice doing a casual run.

Nice run this morning and then off to Pilates.  I've done yoga before, but never Pilates.  I thought it was alright.  Didn't get that much out of it, but I'm sure it was because I wasn't doing it as well as I could have.  I'm signed up for next weekends class, so will see how that one goes.

Woke up VERY early this morning - 3:45am.  I thought only crazy people woke up this early. I'm not sure how Marlin does it everyday. But, I do have to say it was nice being at the gym early.  Saw Jeff first thing which was nice.  It was great seeing Kami, Deborah, Andrea and Kevin early also.   Ran 10 miles.  Got tired the last couple of miles.  Not sure if it was from getting up early or the extra miles.  Finished with a couple of weights and stretching.   Getting a few things done around the house and then off to finish errands and shopping.

Managed to wake up early again today!  It's nice getting done so early.  Kept with 8 miles today, but kind of feel like a slacker after seeing everyone else's miles.   A few weights and then off to back home to get a few things done.

It sure was alot of fun running this morning.  Walked upstairs at the gym and saw a line of great runners. I headed for my favoriate TM, but, Marlin had saved me a TM down over by everyone else.  What a great husband saving me a spot by all the speedy runners.  It's so great to be able to run with everyone. Sure made it fun this morning.  As everyone was finishing I was able to get my run in with 10.5 miles.  It was nice seeing Alana as I was finishing up.  Hope everyone has a great day and is ready for tomorrow. Time to create memories over the next few days.  Have fun everyone!

Had a great morning hanging out at home this morning. Matt, Mitch and Tayson came out to hang out alittle while and eat breakfast.   I had told my sister (Kelly) I'd go with her to help at the soup kitchen or nursing home.  We'd talked about doing something different this year that we've never done.  I ended up missing the soup kitchen, but met up with her at an assisted living place.  She, I, a friend of hers (Hal) and his 5 year old daughter (Ella) went to Fairwinds in town.  We had taken  a basket of candy canes and candy with us.  There were quite a few residents in the dining hall because they were just finishing serving lunch.  We just walked around and said hello to everyone.  They got a kick out of Ella.  

On my way into town I had passed someone out running. So, when I got back home I went out for a 5.25 mile run.  Just took it pretty easy.  It was nice to be outside.  Time to hang out for the rest of the day. Watch tv and eat!

Managed to get up to get to the gym pretty early.  Saw Curt already there and running.  Marlin didn't work today so he was able to go in alittle later.  When  I started out I felt alittle tired.  After a few miles I increased my pace and the run got earlier.  Kept it at 8:34 and 8:27 for awhile. Marlin showed up just alittle later.   Towards the end went to 8:13 just to get it finished.  Had to hurry home and get ready for work.

Broke down and did intervals today.  It's been almost forever since I've done them!  I'd been thinking about it for alittle while and decided today was the day.  It actually wasn't to bad.  Finished with a couple of weights.  Off to home and get ready for work. 

Ran 6x1200 w/400 recovery. 1 mile warmup @ 8.23.  7:47 (152 HR) - 7:43 (155) - 7:47 (158) - 7:35 (165) - 7:35 (168) - 7:47 (168).  Finished with a cool down in Zone 2.

Just another day at the gym this morning.  But, not to many people were there.   Found it alittle hard to run today.  Not sure if it was because I was tired or running next to Marlin.  He was tired from yesterday too, so we'd talk and I'd lose my focus.  Was fun running next to him though. 

Yesterday we got two more Christmas packages in the mail.  One from Marlin's sister.  She'd sent me a book by Kathrine Switzer - Marathon Women.  She'd gone to listen to her in Rapid City in Oct.   I'm looking forward to reading the book.  And, then my sister sent me a plaque from TOU.  Can't believe we did that. 

Now off to getting ready for work.  Hope eveyone has a good day.

I can't believe I didn't get up and run this morning.  My hip was really bugging me yesterday so I did a few stretches this morning before going to work.  I packed my gym bag because I wanted to go to the gym after work. Then I got to live with the guilt throughout the day of not going in the AM.

I have to say I do like the mornings better, but it was alittle nice not feeling rushed or knowing I just had a certain amount of time.  As I was finishing up my 8 miles I saw Alana.  After talking to her for a few min's I finished with some stretching and then off to go home.

I'm glad I went to the gym early this morning.  First thing I saw Marlin and Lynette.  Deborah showed up alittle bit later.  And, even later Jeff and Curt showed up. 

Didn't plan on running much more than 7 miles. But, decided to go 8, then 8.5 and then Marlin suggested going 10.  I had been thinking about it earlier so decided to go ahead and do it.  I had planned on using that extra time for stretching and weight, but I was still able to get some stretching done before heading off to work.  So glad it's Friday!

Well, it's the end of the year.  Finished with a normal 7.25 mile run on the TM.  Afterwards I went and did a few weights and then stretched.  Ran home, did a few things and headed back in for a Pilates class at 10am. Afterwards I went and ran a few errands. Came home and cleaned around the house the rest of the day.  Finished with making my homemade yogart and eating dinner.  Now time to relax for the rest of the day.  Tomorrow a day off from running.  Since I ran Christmas Day I think it's been about 13 days since I've taken a day off.  No wonder I've been alittle tired the last couple of days. 

I've been thinking about things I learnt from running this last year.  Some of the things I've figured out is there is a wide range of training programs.  What works for someone doesn't mean it's going to work for someone else.  Marlin and I drive each other nuts sometimes with what we're both doing. j/k. Next thing is stretching and weights are important and nutrition is more important than I thought. 

I was able to run from Seattle, WA to Cleveland, OH this year. Hope next year is as good as this year for everyone...or even better!!!
